Take to the Sky

Sometimes a commission can just take a long time to work out.  I was jumping ahead of myself thinking, “no prob, I’ll have that done in a month.  Aaaand we’re now in month 4.  Luckily Megan was in no rush to have this 30 x 40 inch painting completed.  And as I have settled back into painting on a more regular basis, I have gotten a chance to just get to it.  This painting still has a way to go, but I’m excited to work big and bright!

This piece also gives me the opportunity to step outside of underwater and look up.  Well, look down from up high. Megan is a profesh hang glider.  Her passion has taken her around the world.  She wanted a way to take some of that love home, so that’s where I come in.  Part of the finishing touches of this painting will be adding some thick culionimbus cloud to gather up some of that sunset, and three more of her buddies painted in.  Each will be adorned in their personal gear and glider colors.  I’m pumped about where I am right now & here’s to the journey ahead!
